Beijing Received 300,000 Inbound Tourists In January 2011
Beijing received nearly 300,000 tourists in January, representing a slight year-on-year increase of 0.6%: according to latest figures released by National Bureau of Statistics of China.
In January, the number of tourists visiting the nation's capital from overseas rose 3.7% year on year to 247,000, with the number of tourists from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan declining 13.9% from a year earlier to 44,000.
Statistics also showed that the USA, Korea, and Japan accounted for 42% of the overseas tourist arrivals, and for 35.9% of the total tourist arrivals, becoming the city's top tourist sources.
The number of U.S. tourists rose 7.1% year on year to 39,000 in January, Korean tourist numbers rose 15.5% to 39,000, while the percentage of Japanese tourists declined by 23.8% to 26,000.
