Beijing National Museum Opened for Public

( Post Time: March 18,2011 )

No more than 1,000 individual visitors per day are allowed to visit China's National Museum free of charge, starting from Mar 17, The Beijing News reports.

Individual visitors can get tickets on site after showing their ID cards or other valid certificate to museum employees while group visitors have to make a reservation in advance via telephone. The museum allows no more than 2,000 group entrants everyday to ensure service quality and an orderly environment, said the report.

After nearly four years of renovation, the National Museum reopened in early March this year. During its trial operation, which ended Mar 16, the museum only receives visitors in group.

Currently, the museum includes two exhibitions: one displays relics from ancient China; the other is about the history and development of modern China. Now, only the latter is opened to the public.

Visitors have to go through a security check at the north gate when they enter the museum, located at the Tian'anmen Square in downtown Beijing. Cigarette lighters and drinking water are not allowed to be brought into the museum, which can be placed at the deposit center.
