Jinshanling Great Wall is one of the best preserved parts of the Great Wall which may shows its charms to the hiking fans at all times. With a distance about 140 kilometers (87 miles) northeast of Beijing city, the dangerous geography and the vast view from the higher place make Jinshanling Section become the highlight part of the Great Wall. With the same fame of the other parts, Jinshanling Great Wall is also famous for the firm structure and the subtle design to prevent the ancient China.

There are more than 100 watch towers along the whole Jinshanling Great Wall. Built stably and elegantly, different towers have different structures and appearances. There are two significant watchtowers which are called the Big Jinshan and the Small Jinshan separately. The Big Jinshan Watchtower has two tiers which are connected by stone stairs. On the top of the tower is a small room used as the soldiers' retiring room. This small room has a unique structure. The rafters and eaves of the room are all made from polished bricks. The Small Jinshan Watchtower was constructed by soldiers from Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces led by Qi Jiguang. To remind themselves of their hometowns, the tower was named Jinshan which was a pavilion's name in the Jiangxin Island in Zhanjiang.

Chengde, one of the premier historic and cultural cities of China, is a prefecture-level city in Hebei province, situated just 230km northeast of Beijing. It is best known as the site of the Mountain Resort, a vast imperial garden city formerly used as the summer residence by the Manchu Emperors of the Qing Dynasty.

The Summer ResortThe Summer Resort of Chengde, added to the World Cultural Heritage List in 1994, is also known as Rehe Temporary Palace. It's originally built for the royal families of the Qing Dynasty to spend the summer months in its mild climate, shielded from the cold winds that blow from Northwest China by the surrounding mountain peaks. When compared to the formality of the Forbidden City, it is delightful for its simplicity and elegance. It is a grand architectural complex that consists of numerous palaces, the largest royal garden in China and various pavilions, temples and minor palaces which dot the mountain slopes and valleys. It is like being within a Chinese traditional painting, with wonderful scenery that defies description in mere words.

The architecture of the Putuo Zongcheng Temple is intriguing, as it combines Han and Tibetan Styles in perfect harmony. The main structure in the temple is the Hall of the Great Buddha. The hall is 36.75 meters high, and has six storeys and multiple eaves and is topped by a gold-plated dome. A Bodhisattva statue with thousands of hands and eyes is enshrined in the hall. The statue, 22.28 meters in height and 110 tons in weight, is carved from wood and plated with gold. Next, we take you to the Putuo Zongsheng Temple, which is called Little Potala Palace since it imitates the architectural style of the Potala Palace in Tibet. When you arrive in the temple, you will be entertained with a charming ethnic minority song and dance show in Ancient Chinese style

Day 5

Chengde    Beijing
In the morning, you will take a visit to Puning Temple.  After lunch, be transferred back to Beijing (256km).
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: In Beijing

Puning TempleThe Puning Temple is one of the famous Eight Outer Temples in Chengde City, which was constructed in 1755 of the Qianlong reign. The whole building complex of the Puning Temple mixed the artistic style for Han, Tibetan and Indian architectures, and formed the typical image of a Buddha World with Buddha statues as its main body, holding an important position in the history of Chinese architecture.

The Puning Temple is of grand scale, occupying an area of more than 23,000 square meters. The main structure in the temple is the Hall of Great Buddha. The hall is 36.75 meters high, and has six layers and multiple eaves. The top of the hall is a gold-plated dome. The hall is a representative of the architectural style of Chinese temples and mosques. A Bodhisattva statue with thousands of hands and eyes is enshrined in the hall. The statue, 21.85 meters in height and 110 tons in weight, is carved out of wood and plated with gold. It sits on a locus throne of 2.22 meters high. The statue has 42 hands, two of which clamp together and the rest with different musical instruments in them. The statue is one of the famous large-scale wood-carved Buddha statues in China. All around the hall there are other Tibetan constructions, such as pagodas and terraces. Besides the Hall of Great Buddha, there are the Miaoyan Room and the Hall of Scripture Preaching, where Qing emperors listened to the preaching and had a rest.
